VP Biden Was Right

Tue Sep 29 2009 12:17:00 GMT-0400 (EDT)  |  by DSCC Online Team

DSCC Chairman Senator Robert Menendez sent the following message to DSCC supporters:

"If they take them back, this is the end of the road for what Barack and I are trying to do."
- Vice President Joe Biden, speaking about seats in Congress

Dear Friend,

Double your impact. Don't let the GOP gain ground. Contribute today and your gift will be matched. Contribute now.

Vice President Biden is right. Republicans have made their priorities clear, and solving the nation's problems isn't high on the list. President Obama's change agenda is dead if Democrats lose. That's a fact.

We have a tough fight ahead. History is against us - only three times since the Civil War has the party holding the White House gained seats in midterm elections. And whipping the base into an anti-government frenzy is paying off handsomely for GOP fundraisers.

That's the bad news. But here's why we will win in 2010: Nobody beats our donors. Nobody. Across the country, Democrats are standing up. We have thousands more grassroots supporters than ever before, and each and every one is making a difference.

Help make the lasting change we voted for in November a reality. The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee is only 30 hours away from our crucial end-of-quarter deadline, and we have $319,536 left to meet our goal. If you give today, a group of senators will match every dollar, effectively doubling your impact.

Why is meeting this goal so important? Because perception is everything in politics.

Our $3 million goal is ambitious. It's the highest bar we've set for ourselves yet on the road to 2010. When we meet - or exceed - it, it will serve as a signal to Republicans. It shows our strength. It lets them know that by targeting our seats, they're itching for a fight.

Falling short is not an option. The Republicans would seize on the news as evidence of weakness. That would set off a vicious circle. They're empowered, they attract attention, they attract money, they win.

We can't let that happen. We won't let that happen. But we need your help.

Your gift will make sure we have the resources needed to build winning campaigns, defend our incumbents and turn seats from red to blue. And if you donate today, each dollar you give will be matched. That doubles your impact.

The threat is real. But so is the opportunity. And with you on our side, I like our chances.

Sincerely,
Sen. Bob Menendez
Bob Menendez

I'll consider a donation when meaningful health care reform with a strong public option is passed.

    Exactly.
I'd rather vote for a republican with a spine than give the democratic party 1 cent of my money.
The party has already caved in on healthcare when the vast majority of Americans want a public option and 70% of doctors favor it.
    Rot in hell pussies!!!!

  • Donations for what? Mon Oct 19 2009 14:04:41 GMT-0400 (EDT)  |  by Little Red Ridinghood
I will not make a donation to an organization that may use it to support the wolf in Grandma's clothes. I will not be Red Ridinghood any longer!

The littany of weak kneed Democrats is pathetic: Conrad, Lieberman, Nelson, Feinstein, Baucus, Obama, et al. The health care plan should be retitled: Democracy for Sale and Selling Out to Corporations.

The Wall Street Bank Bailout enacted by Bush could almost cover the cost of ten years of healthcare reform. Where were all the weak knees then?

The working class and middleclass are economic cannon fodder and you are doing nothing but protecting corporate vested interests.

No ifs, ands, or buts allowed!

Cradle to grave, no excuses, single payer healthcare now!

The bills that Congress are working on are not what I want, and not what I heard the President say he wanted.
Change the Medicare/Medicaid enrollment age requirements. I pay for it already anyway, why can't I have it now?

For private insurers, the basic consumer protection reforms the President laid out are essential. The bullshit about insurers keeping their "home state" choice of law is just wrong. What the hell people?

ABSOLUTELY AGREE WITH THIS POST. I WANT TO SEE DEMOCRATS GAINING SEATS, BUT THOSE LEGISLATORS WHO ARE NOT SUPPORTING A STRONG PUBLIC OPTION FOR MEANINGFUL HEALTHCARE ARE DOING A GRAVE DISSERVICE TO THEIR COUNTRY IN MY HUMBLE OPINION.

  • set the goals higher Wed Oct 14 2009 18:56:37 GMT-0400 (EDT)  |  by oneideaatatime
    Set the goals higher.
First of all if you are just trying to get 3 million, you are not setting your goals high enough. It should be 10 million or more.
The goals in health care are not setting high enough goals either.
The money is there to give 100% health care.
We the people do not want health insurance, we the people want health care. Make the insurance companies a payer. Having insurance is like gambling with your life or your loved ones lives. People would have more luck going to Las Vegas. When the bill is finally passed, are the insurance companies going to have you answer all those health questions.
Something may be better than nothing but remember it can only be the start of better future things. it can not be the end of it.

  • Donations for whom Mon Oct 19 2009 14:23:19 GMT-0400 (EDT)  |  by Little Red Ridinghood
I forgot in my earlier post. I will be more selective in my contributions in the future making them directly to the candidates I feel support the common citizen rather than the power elite.

I will contribute to Alan Grayson for President 2012.

Anyone care to joim me in a draft Grayson movement?
