Jobs Bill Passes House: Kirk, Castle, Blunt, Boozman Vote Against

Thu Mar 04 2010 18:30:00 GMT-0500 (EST)  |  by Arjun Jaikumar

The HIRE Act passed the House today, no thanks to Reps. Mark Kirk of Illinois, Roy Blunt of Missouri, Michael Castle of Delaware, and John Boozman of Arkansas.

Each of these would-be Senators voted against the job creation package.

The bipartisan bill, has four key provisions including a payroll tax holiday for businesses to encourage hiring, additional funds to help small businesses expand, an extension of the Highway Trust Fund to allow more infrastructure investments, and an expansion of the Build America Bonds program to allow states finance infrastructure projects.

Each of these four Republicans stands in opposition to the Senators they would replace on job creation.

I hope Scotts amendment was not included in the bill. Tax cuts put us in this mess. We need less spending. If we have this sluch fund as he stated then it need to be put into this jobs bill.

I was under the assumption that unemployment insurance was paid for by a tax employers pay, and I thought it was a payroll deduction. Where has all that money gone? Funding should not even be part of the equation if this is in fact true.
