DEMOCRATS RUNNING ON HEALTHCARE — AND HOLDING THE GOP ACCOUNTABLE FOR SPIKING COSTS & CUTTING COVERAGE FOR PRE-EXISTING CONDITIONS. The Hill reports on the latest efforts from  Senate Democratic campaigns on healthcare: In West Virginia, Joe Manchin’s new ad targets “Patrick Morrisey’s lawsuit to take away health care from people with pre-existing conditions” and in Arizona the ADP “is launching a new ad against Rep. Martha McSally […] saying she backtracked on a pledge to protect people with pre-existing conditions by voting for the House’s repeal and replace bill last year”  More analysis today on the Democrats’ health care offensive:

From Vox: “The political power of preexisting conditions, explained.”

From NBC: “Democrats are no longer playing defense on the Affordable Care Act.”

From the New York Times’ Paul Krugman: “Democrats Are Credible on Health Care.”

Don’t miss Claire McCaskill’s newest “30 for 30” video featuring Charlotte D’alfonso sharing her son’s story of living with a pre-existing condition and how devastating Josh Hawley’s lawsuit to strip those protections would be to her family.

TUCSON SENTINEL HEADLINE: “DEMS SLAM MCSALLY ON HEALTH VOTE IN NEW AD.” More on the ADP’s latest ad, from the Tucson Sentinel: “the Arizona Democratic Party argues that her last town hall in Sahuarita in 2017, McSally backed Republican legislation that cut healthcare and highlights a Fox News interview where McSally told the host that ‘we’ve got to get this done.’ Watch the ad here:

MCSALLY’S WEEK OFF TO A ROUGH START. It’s not just her health care record dragging McSally down. After Politifact rated McSally’s desperate attack on Kyrsten as “mostly false,”  Arizona Republic’s Laurie Roberts grilled McSally for her the misleading ad, saying “I get the feeling that Martha McSally is the one now doing a tap dance.”

NEW SINEMA OP-ED: WORKING ACROSS THE AISLE TO PUT ARIZONANS’ HEALTH CARE FIRST. Kyrsten Sinema penned an op-ed for the Arizona Daily Star highlighting her record as “as one of the most independent members of Congress” and how she’ll find bipartisan solutions to improve Arizonans’ care.

GOP STRATEGIST: REPUBLICAN SENATE CAMPAIGNS NOT “BEING RUN AT THE TOP LEVEL.” A stunningly honest admission from a GOP strategist from the Hill: “You’d like to think with a map like the one Republicans were given you’d see across the board campaigns that are being run at the top level. You’re just not.” Republicans have failed to seize on a favorable map, recruit strong candidates and their campaigns have been driven down by bitter, divisive primary battles. Now even Fox News is joining the chorus of headlines outlining how for “Republican leaders seeking to maintain control of the Senate, some races are becoming a little too close for comfort.”

Speaking of races where the GOP is floundering…

CRUZ CRISIS “FORCING GOP TO DIVERT RESOURCES TO TEXAS FROM OTHER STATES.” The latest on the GOP’s expensive, Texas-sized money pit:

Vanity Fair “Republicans close their eyes, cringe and prepare to perform CPR on Ted Cruz.”

The Hill: Cruz facing “an existential threat.”

Rolling Stone: “The GOP Is Sweating Bullets Over Beto O’Rourke”
