“We already knew the Republican health plan forces older Americans to pay as much as five times more for care, risks dangerous setbacks in the fight against the opioid epidemic, and drives up insurance costs for families across the country – all while giving health insurance companies a tax cut. Now, we learn the GOP bill would leave 24 million more Americans without health insurance and ‘substantially’ raise premiums for older people. Republicans’ marquee legislation can be summarized in three parts: First you’ll pay more, then you’ll get less care, all while big insurance companies get a break. That’s the Republican health care platform and every GOP candidate running for office will have to answer for it.”
