Scott’s Self-Serving Special Session: Afternoon Update

Developments are coming in fast during Rick Scott’s Self-Serving Special Session – but it’s clear that Scott’s efforts to push his own political interests at the expense of hardworking families is creating new problems that will follow him long after this has ended. A few key updates:

  • AND A LATE-BREAKING UPDATE: Scott is fleeing the state as the spotlight on his self-serving agenda intensifies (he’ll be in Washington with Donald Trump).

From DSCC Spokesman David Bergstein: “One day in, Governor’s Scott self-serving special session is already a clear demonstration of what Floridians don’t like about him: he’s only ever looking out for himself. Scott’s agenda has taken Florida to the bottom of the nation in household income, but instead of investing in the middle-class priorities Scott is behaving like a typical Tallahassee politician — using this session to drain funding for public schools and advance his own political interests, while hardworking Floridians pay the price.”
