DID CONGRESSMAN MIKE CASTLE BREAK HIS WORD TO DELAWAREANS BY VOTING AGAINST JOBS BILL YESTERDAY?

DID CONGRESSMAN MIKE CASTLE BREAK HIS WORD TO DELAWAREANS BY VOTING AGAINST JOBS BILL YESTERDAY?

Castle Last Week: I’d Vote For Jobs Bill

Castle Yesterday: Voted Against Jobs Bill

Congressman Mike Castle is keeping up his pattern of saying one thing and doing another - this time by saying to Delawareans last week he would vote for a bipartisan jobs bill and voting against the bill in the House yesterday. Last week, Congressman Castle told WDEL radio station in Delaware that he would have voted “yes” to the Senate’s bipartisan jobs bill. However, yesterday in Washington, Congressman Castle voted “no” to the same jobs bill put forth in the House of Representatives.

“Congressman Mike Castle’s habit of saying one thing in Delaware and doing another in Washington continues to prove he is just another politician who has been in office far too long,” said DSCC National Press Secretary Deirdre Murphy. “Having been a politician since the Johnson Administration, Congressman Castle should know better than to promise to vote for a job creation bill then turn around and vote against it in Washington. “

Congressman Mike Castle continues to say one thing in Delaware and do another in Washington. Several months ago, Congressman Castle called for more stimulus funding for the state of Delaware, even though he voted AGAINST the stimulus package last year. Just a few weeks prior, Castle was caught red handed taking credit for a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development project funded through stimulus funds. In July, Congressman Castle presented a check from the Environmental Protection Agency, awarding $19.2 million in federal stimulus money for wastewater infrastructure projects in Delaware (photo below).

Congressman Castle, who's running for the Senate, says if he were a Senator now, he'd have joined fellow Republicans in voting to end debate on a 15 billion-dollar jobs bill.

Castle tells WDEL News he's never been a fan of filibusters anyway.

Castle says he likes the bill that will be voted on later this week because it's more focused on creating private-sector jobs than a job creation measure that passed the House months ago or last year's economic stimulus package.
