“Two or Three Republicans Will Duke It Out”
While Democrats Rally Around Gary Peters, Republican Infighting on Full Display
It’s no secret that potential Republican Senate hopeful Joni Ernst has been a strong supporter of raising the gas tax in Iowa. The proposal would raise the gas tax by 45% within two years and impact all Iowans, especially middle class families and working people. But suddenly, Ernst has reversed her position and pulled her support from the plan to increase taxes, and her reasoning is crystal clear:
Georgia’s “increasingly crowded” Republican Senate primary just got a little less roomy, as failed 2010 gubernatorial candidate and disgraced ex-Komen Foundation Vice President Karen Handel joined the GOP primary field this morning. This brings the Republican primary candidate count to five, promising a long, expensive, and divisive primary for the GOP.
GOP OVERREACH: 2014 COULD LOOK A LOT LIKE 1998. Republicans are foaming at the mouth over Benghazi, AP, and the IRS. They are throwing out the ‘I’ word (impeachment) and gloating about months and months of hearings that will block progress on other issues people care about. Republican Gabe Gomez says he is “proud” of the $280,000 tax scam he used to bilk the taxpayers. The Boston Globe yesterday revealed that Gomez, despite warnings from the IRS and a bipartisan group of federal lawmakers, used a seemingly fraudulent tax scheme with a sham charity to fleece taxpayers out of thousands of dollars… But Gomez won’t even say how much.
In 2012, Gabriel Gomez was the spokesman for a radical group that spent nearly half a million dollars attacking President Obama over the killing of Osama bin Laden and now he is changing his story and trying to distance himself from OPSEC, a shadowy superPAC that accepts unlimited undisclosed contributions.
