DSCC Announces Additional Senior Staff Hires

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee today is announcing two key senior staff hires for the 2016 election cycle.

Simone Ward will serve as National Political Director. In 2014, Ward was the Campaign Manager for West Virginia Senate candidate Natalie Tennant. She is a veteran of the Democratic National Committee having served there as the National Constituency Director, Director of African American Outreach and at the Women’s Leadership Forum. In 2010, Ward was the Campaign Manager for the re-election campaign for Maryland Senator Barbara A. Mikulski and she previously served as the Vice President of Public Affairs for Planned Parenthood of New York City. In 2007, Ward worked as a Senior Regional Political staffer at EMILY’s List.

Sadie Weiner will serve as National Press Secretary, coming to the DSCC as a veteran of numerous competitive Senate races in key battleground states. Weiner comes to the DSCC after serving as Communications Director for Kay Hagan’s 2014 re-election campaign. Prior to that Weiner served in the same role in Hagan’s official Senate office. Weiner also worked in the press departments for the successful re-election campaigns of Senator Sherrod Brown (2012) and Senator Patty Murray (2010) and Kay Hagan’s historic 2008 election to the Senate.

“Simone and Sadie bring a wealth of knowledge in campaigns and elections to their roles, and they will be instrumental over the next two years as we seek to regain the majority in 2016,” said Senator Jon Tester, Chairman of the DSCC. “I’m thrilled that these two talented individuals are on board to help round out our team’s senior staff that already boasts the top talent from throughout the country. I am confident that this team has what it takes to meet and exceed the challenges before us.”
