In response to the Democratic discharge petition to force a vote overturning GOP junk health insurance plans that can deny coverage for pre-existing conditions and essential health benefits like prescription drugs, emergency room visits and maternity care, Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee Chairman Sen. Chris Van Hollen issued the following statement:
“Republicans have given voters another reason not to support them next month. Junk insurance plans that don’t cover basic care or prescriptions, legislation that spikes premiums while stripping away insurance, and lawsuits gutting coverage for pre-existing conditions — it’s all part of the GOP’s health care agenda that’s hurting middle class families. Votes like these are why health care is the top issue in the election, why GOP Senate candidates are already on the defensive about it, and why voters will hold them accountable in November.”
