In response to a new report detailing how the Republican Healthcare Plan would jeopardize coverage for pre-existing conditions – except for members of Congress – Democratic Senatorial Campaign Spokesman David Bergstein issued the following statement:
“By stripping coverage and spiking costs for everyone but themselves, Republican lawmakers have managed to make their toxic health care plan even more harmful. And worse: they’re breaking the promises they made to the American people. The only winners in this plan are the big insurance companies who get another taxpayer funded handout and the Republican members of Congress who will be wholly unaffected by it, while older Americans will have to pay five times more for care, those with pre-existing conditions could lose their coverage and the middle class will have to pay even more for less. Every Republican Senate candidate will be held accountable for their broken promises and reckless self-interest.”
