DSCC Statement On New Developments In Scott’s Nursing Home Scandal

AP: “‘The governor promised help. We never saw any help,’ Morrow said, saying she believes Scott was grandstanding to boost his likely Senate campaign.”

In response to an Associated Press report on Scott’s nursing home, hurricane scandal — including new analysis detailing how Scott created a dangerous “bottleneck” by giving out his cell number, a move called “grandstanding to boost his likely Senate campaign” — Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee Spokesman David Bergstein released the following statement:

“Unfortunately, at the heart of this tragedy is Rick Scott’s pathological need to seize every opportunity to advance his own political self-interest, even at the expense of Florida’s families and seniors. His record of slashing protections for seniors and hiding information about nursing homes to benefit his political contributors are well documented — and this new report is more confirmation how his self-serving agenda has a tangible and horrific impact on Floridians. If he runs for Senate, the spotlight on Scott’s record and his character will only intensify.”
