Sadie Weiner, DSCC Communications Director, released the following statement after the Chamber of Commerce and the Club for Growth announced their latest effort to prop up vulnerable Pennsylvania Senator Pat Toomey following Katie McGinty’s strong primary night victory:
“After Katie McGinty’s resounding victory last night, no one woke up more nervous than Pat Toomey and his special interest allies who immediately hit the panic button and are spending nearly a million dollars to smear Katie and prop up Toomey. Katie comes out of her primary in a strong position to take on Toomey and hold him accountable for his record of standing up for Wall Street at the expense of Pennsylvanians. After voting with the special interests for years, it’s no surprise that those same groups are now spending big to save Toomey, and these ads show one thing – Toomey’s dark money allies are afraid of Katie McGinty. Unfortunately for Pat Toomey, no amount of money will erase his record of voting against Pennsylvania hard-working middle class families.”
