DSCC Statement on Republicans Voting Against Harvey Assistance

In response to Republican Senate candidates’ votes against Hurricane Harvey assistance, Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee Spokesman David Bergstein released the following statement:

“At a time when President Trump and Democrats came together on emergency aid to those impacted by Hurricane Harvey and to keep the government open, these Republican Senate candidates put their own dysfunctional politics first. This kind of self-serving partisanship stands in sharp contrast to Democrats who are working across party lines to get things done for Americans.”

The following Republican Senate candidates voted against Harvey aid:

  • Senator Flake;
  • Congressman Todd Rokita (IN);
  • Congressman Luke Messer (IN);
  • Congressman Evan Jenkins (WV)
