Tom Lopach, Executive Director of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, issued the following statement following Ted Strickland’s primary night victory in Ohio:
“Ted Strickland’s decisive win in Ohio tonight propels him into the general election poised for success. Rob Portman and his Washington allies have already spent up to $13 million trying to damage Ted and prop up Senator Portman, but their money hasn’t worked, and Ted enters the general election leading in the polls. Ted Strickland has a personal understanding of the struggles facing working folks in Ohio, which makes it even harder for Senator Portman to defend his Washington insider record as a ‘dedicated outsourcer’ who prioritizes DC politics at Ohio’s expense. Nothing illustrates this more than Senator Portman refusing to do his job and fill the Supreme Court vacancy. No one knows Ohio better than Ted, and we look forward to welcoming him to the Senate in November.”
