FL SEN Debate Top Tweets: Scott On The Defensive, “Governor, You’re A Walking Conflict Of Interest”

The tweets from this morning’s Florida Senate debate tell the story: Scott was on the defensive, didn’t tell the truth about his record of cutting health care and backing President Trump’s handling of the crisis in Puerto Rico. In one of the most powerful moments of the debate, Scott was confronted by Parkland parent Fred Guttenberg about his record on gun safety and had no good answers.

From David Bergstein, Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee Spokesman: “At today’s debate Floridians will see exactly why they can’t trust Rick Scott in the Senate — he doesn’t tell the truth, he’s a bad governor and he only cares about helping one person: himself.”

See for yourself:

Associated Press reporter Gary Fineout:
1 trend that has emerged in Scott vs. Nelson clash – In Scott’s first 2 campaigns, it was attack the other candidate, say they are unethical, say they will harm state. Bc of unfolding events, Scott has been forced during this cycle to defend his record more than previously

NBC 6: Sen. Nelson: Governor, you just can’t tell the truth. Governor, you’re a walking conflict of interest. #DebateFlorida #Decision2018

POLITICO Reporter Marc Caputo:
Nelson brought @fred_guttenberg to the Telemundo51 debate, calls him out, says he backs an assault weapons ban and points out Scott has an A-rating with the NRA […] Nelson to Scott: “I hope you will look @fred_guttenberg in the face and tell him you’re not going to support those kind of policies that you have with the NRA.

Miami Herald Reporter David Smiley:
“Nelson and Scott arguing over FEMA’s handling of Puerto Rico now. Nelson brings up Scott’s comments early in the campaign that he wouldn’t have done anything differently in PR […] Scott who definitely said this, calls it a lie

Associated Press Reporter Gary Fineout:
Well, not at the debate going on now, but judging by the press releases @FLGovScott appears to be glossing over his record on Medicaid expansion. He was against it, then he was for it during the 2014 election cycle, then after he got re-elected he opposed it again.
