Politician formerly known as “the maverick” not willing to Dump Trump
John McCain’s continued support of Donald Trump, in light of the GOP nominee’s vicious attacks on a Gold Star family, have him getting pressed repeatedly back home by Arizona press who are wondering where McCain’s “straight talk” has gone after three decades in Washington.
After profiling Arizona veterans who were upset by McCain’s refusal to rescind his endorsement of Trump earlier this week, Phoenix’s 3TV covered McCain’s testy press conference yesterday where McCain once again refused to stand up to Donald Trump. As reporter Dennis Welch said:
“You might think that a politician once known as “the maverick” would be ready to dump Trump at this point but he isn’t. He’s sticking by the GOP nominee.”

While McCain is unable to reverse his support for the GOP’s hateful and divisive standard bearer, his Democratic opponent Ann Kirkpatrick is calling McCain out for his refusal to condemn Trump and not giving Arizonans the “straight talk” they deserve.
