Not Up For Debate: GOP Senators Lack Judgment And Courage For Continuing To Support Trump

No Matter What Happens Tonight, GOP Senators Have Pledged to Back Donald Trump as our Next Commander-in-Chief

As millions of Americans tune in to tonight’s presidential debate, we expect few people will watch with much as anxiety as vulnerable Senate Republicans, almost all of whom have support Donald Trump to be our next commander-in-chief.

Despite the fact that Trump has run a campaign based on racism, xenophobia, misogyny, and dangerous foreign policies, GOP Senators have stood by him through thick and thin. Nothing that happens tonight will change the fact that Donald Trump is unfit to be President, just like nothing tonight will change the fact that Republican Senators from Kelly Ayotte to Ron Johnson to Richard Burr have shown horrible judgement by continuing to support his toxic campaign.

“It’s not up for debate that Republican Senators have put their party before what’s good for the country with their support of Donald Trump’s toxic and divisive campaign,” said DSCC Communications Director Sadie Weiner. “Nothing Trump says or does tonight will erase the months of continued support from Republican Senators as he denigrated nearly every group of Americans, used his charitable foundation as a personal slush fund, and proposed one dangerous foreign policy idea after another.  While Republican Senate candidates won’t be on tonight’s debate stage, their inexcusable lack of judgment will be on full display.”
