Ryan’s Donor Retreat Itinerary

We knew from the Washington Post that Speaker Ryan planned to unveil the next phase of the GOP’s health care agenda to donors this week. Now, we learn from the Miami Herald that the confab will take place today and Friday in Palm Beach. We got our hands on the itinerary. Enjoy!

A Weekend with the People Bringing You Tax Breaks Disguised As Health Care*
March 30 – 31, 2017

Thursday, March 30, 2017
12:00 – 2:00 p.m.               Welcome Reception
Check-in is arranged by average tax break the AHCA would have afforded your family, e.g.: if you earn more than $1 million annually, please see our staff at the table labeled “$51,410.” Families earning below 40,000 attempting to enter will be directed to the nearest emergency room.

2:30 – 4:00 p.m.                 Panel: Helping Us Help You
Our first stab at health care included $275 billion for you, the wealthiest Americans. In this panel, we’ll review what more we can do in our next phase. Or is it a bucket? No matter what we call it, we think you’ll like it!

4:30 – 6:00 p.m.                 Discussion: A Better Way… To Make Them Pay
Freedom is at the heart of our health care agenda – the freedom to let insurance companies charge more for less care, the freedom to access coverage but not necessarily afford it. However, the Freedom Caucus has shown they actually do not like “freedom.” This discussion will focus on making the House Freedom Caucus pay for the huge political liability and public embarrassment brought to our Party.

6:30 – 9:00 p.m.                 Working Dinner: Let Them Eat Cake
We will review takeaways from the day and reflect on our feats, like our impressive work to save Americans less while making sure 24 million are uninsured.

Friday, March 31, 2017

8:30 – 10:30 a.m.               Appreciation Breakfast Hosted By Groups Who Supported the AHCA

11:00 – 1:00 p.m.               Seminar: What to Say to Health Bill Haters
The AARP, American Medical Association, American Nurses Association, voters – the list of AHCA critics is long and this seminar will provide helpful tips to reply to the skeptics. A special breakout panel will focus on what to say to our conservative friends whose votes and money we’ll need for reelection.

1:30 – 2:30 p.m.                 Keynote: Why I Worked to Give Insurance Companies a YUGE Tax Break
Join us for Governor Rick Scott’s key note address on the courage it took to stand with insurance companies, while publicly distancing himself from the plan. At the request of Governor Scott, live-tweeting the key note is not allowed, as he is only courageous enough to take credit for spearheading the plan behind closed doors and out of the public’s eye.
