Scott’s Terrible Environmental Record, Corruption In The Spotlight In FL-Sen

Yahoo News: “The epic red tide, as well as Hurricane Michael […] have propelled the environment to the forefront of issues”

Tampa Bay Times: Revealed: Rick Scott’s financial link to botched SunPass contract.

Two new reports from Yahoo News, and Inside Climate News highlight how “the epic red tide, as well as Hurricane Michael’s devastating blow to the Florida Panhandle, have propelled the environment to the forefront of issues facing Florida voters” — and cast a spotlight on Rick Scott’s terrible record on the environment.

  • Yahoo News: Red-tide awakening: How Florida’s environmental woes could hurt GOP’s Scott in Senate race. “The epic red tide, as well as Hurricane Michael’s devastating blow to the Florida Panhandle, have propelled the environment to the forefront of issues facing Florida voters […]  ‘These voters have been living with algae for many years now, and for Scott, who talks about getting things done, the fact nothing has changed on algae and red tide goes right at his strength,” Schale said.”
  • Inside Climate News: With Hurricanes and Toxic Algae, Florida Candidates Can’t Ignore the Environment. “‘The environment is clearly an issue in this race,’ said Susan MacManus, a University of South Florida political science professor emeritus. ‘The algae bloom and red tide continue to be a big issue,’ she said. And Hurricane Michael ‘highlights the threats of climate change.”

Additionally, today the Tampa Bay Times reveals Scott’s latest financial scandal: “Scott has a personal stake in a fund controlled by a major stockholder in the parent company of the firm that operates Florida’s dysfunctional SunPass toll-collection system.”

These reports add to the more than 500 bad news stories about Self-Serving Scott during the first 180 days on the campaign.
