Senator Rob Portman has refused to do his job, standing instead with Republican obstructionism on filling the Supreme Court vacancy: he doesn’t think there should be a hearing or vote on anyone President Obama nominates and has said he wouldn’t even meet with the nominee. Portman’s also toed the party line on the unbelievable GOP presidential contest, pledging to support the eventual nominee, even if it’s Donald Trump.
Senator Portman wants Donald Trump to nominate the next Supreme Court Justice.
Trump’s presidential campaign has been defined by toxic rhetoric and offensive comments about women, immigrants, minorities and Muslims (to name a few), but Portman is perfectly comfortable with handing Trump the keys to make a lifetime appointment to the highest court in America.
“First Rob Portman refuses to do his job, and now he’s ready to entrust Donald Trump with the responsibility of making a lifetime appointment to the country’s highest court,” Lauren Passalacqua, DSCC National Press Secretary. “Portman owes an explanation to Ohio voters about why he wants someone who won’t even condemn the KKK to nominate a Supreme Court justice.”
