Welcome to the General Election Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-Special Interests)

Last night Kelly Ayotte won her primary in her quest to spend six more years representing her special interest backers instead of the people of New Hampshire.

While Governor Maggie Hassan helped to expand the New Hampshire economy, promote job growth, and protect health care for all, Sen. Ayotte was doing the bidding of her Washington backers.

Sen. Ayotte chose to protect tax loopholes for big oil while opposing efforts to require them to disclose their political spending—unsurprising for a Senator who continues to benefit from their donations.

Sen. Ayotte sided with the Koch Brothers nearly 90% of the time so she could help fulfill their vision, voting to turn Medicare into a voucher program and against protecting Social Security from privatization.

And instead of helping to make college more affordable for New Hampshire students, Sen. Ayotte voted to cut Pell Grants and advocate for a student loan bill described as a “sweetheart deal” for her Wall Street backers.

No wonder Sen. Ayotte’s the recipient of $40 million in outside spending to help her cover up her record of leaving New Hampshire voters behind.

“Senator Kelly Ayotte has spent the past six years putting the special interests before Granite Staters, and now she has 55 days to try and cover up her record. It won’t work,” said DSCC spokesperson Sam Lau. “While we have no doubt Senator Ayotte will be propped up by her friends on Wall Street and at big oil companies, New Hampshire voters want someone who will stand up for them instead of their big money donors. That’s why they will vote for a woman who has delivered for them the past four years as Governor, and will continue to put them first the next six as their Senator—Governor Maggie Hassan.”
