  • Republican spending under Bush  |   Sun Apr 04 2010 16:13:19 GMT-0400 (EDT)  |  by simon21
Where were the fiscal conservatives when George W Bush was spending, spending, spending and the Republican party refused to Pay as We Go and balance the budget. And does William 601 think Nixon was a socialist. This Healthcare Law is similar to what he recommended. As far as I'm concerned Obama, included too many Republican ideas in the law.
  • Got Your Back  |   Wed Feb 10 2010 20:40:10 GMT-0500 (EST)  |  by GBarouta
Thank you Mr. president for looking out for the not so rich and the poor. Democrats in San Diego support you all the way. We may be a minority in San Diego but we will never forget who has put it on the line for us. Mr President we got your back. We are your defenders. Slick Republicans talk trash and continuiously try to bully others with scare tactics. San Diego Dems know that and we fear not the bullies. Lets turn the tables on the protectors of the status quo. Chance for change has come. Lets embrace it.
  • GOOD JOB ???????  |   Wed Feb 03 2010 07:09:08 GMT-0500 (EST)  |  by William601
I would like to know what the President has done to better this country. He has divided it. He has even caused dems seats to be lost. There will be many more lost this fall due to his actions. Its about time he wakes up and listens to the people. I wish that people who want Socialist Government, PLEASE move out of country
  • Great Job  |   Tue Feb 02 2010 21:47:30 GMT-0500 (EST)  |  by rswain4212
    Great Job Mr. President
  • spending  |   Tue Feb 02 2010 20:00:39 GMT-0500 (EST)  |  by William601
Can't understand why you dems want to spend, spend spend. You have to buy your votes with back doors deals. If you dems like this spending why don't you send double payments with your tax payments. Seems as though you don't think you pay enough now. How can anybody justify the kind of spending the President is doing??? This man is destroying this country. He will have us in such a hole we may never recover. It will be worse next year. Pelosi should be fired. She has no clue as to whats she is doing. I think what she needs is more botox injections.
  • Torch carrier position available  |   Tue Feb 02 2010 13:44:35 GMT-0500 (EST)  |  by GBarouta
Passionate Senators and Congress men & women are needed to carry the torch for Obamas agenda. We need elected Democrats that stand up and preach, scold, and attack the opposition's agenda. We need to have others, beside the President, to stand up, be recognized, and show passion for drastic change. It seems like all weve been doing is defending when attacked. That makes us look very weak. When are we going to recognize that we are the majority? Our reps should be initiating the attack on all that the opposition claims to be the will of the people. After all, we the people rejected what was the norm for the past eight years. We elected Obama and 2 houses full of Democrats, not by accident, but for their desire to change the status quo. We the public need to continuously hear what is wrong and how we intend to change it. Let us dissect and illustrate the flaws in the Republicans agenda. Dont hold back. It seems that the minority is doing the attacking and we are on our heels attempting to defend.
  • interview  |   Mon Feb 01 2010 22:36:33 GMT-0500 (EST)  |  by William601
Here he goes again. Mr Obama on TV saying the transparency has been there all along with the health bill, another lie. He has not be open as promised during campaign. Does this not bother anybody?? The lies just keep coming. Gitmo is still open, it was to close by now. What has he achieved in the last year?? Please, can anybody answer this, I don't think so because he hasn't . Now they are lying about jobs created. When will this nonsense end
  • filibuster  |   Mon Feb 01 2010 00:12:34 GMT-0500 (EST)  |  by Dave
Historically, the filibuster was used sparingly by the opposition party on legislation that aroused the greatest of passions. It also required the opposition to stand at the lectern 24/7 and bloviate nonstop. Somehow the filibuster has been corrupted to a cheap procedural trick to block virtually all legislation the opposition party opposes. This procedural tactic should be revised by the Senate to either bring it back to its original use or changed so that it doesn't require a supermajority of 60 to advance legislation. It is nowhere written in the Constitution and is simply an agreement among the Senate.
  • spending  |   Sat Jan 30 2010 22:57:44 GMT-0500 (EST)  |  by William601
Our Mr Obama is about to spend more money than all the other Presidents combined. Can't believe you Dems want the weight of this on your shoulders. Think it is about time the Dems start letting the Republicans in on the meetings as promised by Mr Obama. As they said the other night in Massachusetts, it was the Scott heard around the world. It isn't over yet. I am sure more Dems will save their face rather than going down with their party.
  • McDonnell  |   Fri Jan 29 2010 21:19:43 GMT-0500 (EST)  |  by Mark
Of all the lightning rod Republicans that could have been recruited -- Cornyn, Crist, Cantor, whomever -- they choose this guy to be the replying face of the party? I guess no one else wanted the job. Surely this cabal of mostly wealthy, power-hungry men must have a representative ideology they want communicated to the world. This implies that somewhere someone somehow has an intellectual grasp of the essence of that ideology -- yet there was no hint of any passionate grasp of said ideology that McDonnell or his handlers felt bound to share. Same old same old. Boilerplate. Platitudes. Take my word for it, I'm sincere and thoughtful and I know what's best for you, and if you don't believe me, you must be a liberal. They're like a bunch of contractors demanding that you accept that the leaky kitchen they've installed at multiples of the stated time and cost has been manufactured to the highest possible standards and has won numerous design awards. NEWS FLASH TO MCDONNELL, MCCONNELL, STEELE, ET AL: YOU'VE GOT TO SELL YOUR BRAND, SONNY! YOU BUILD A FIRE WITH THE MATCHES OF WORDS, NOT WORDS YOU THINK MAY MATCH!
