Urgent Message from DSCC Executive Director Mindy Myers:
I’m on the ground in Florida helping with the recount for Bill Nelson (D), and I wanted to give you the inside scoop about what’s going on.
The margin of votes is just 0.15%. The gap has closed in Nelson’s favor and while this will be a fight to the end, I want to be clear: We can win this Senate seat. And when we finish this recount, I believe Floridians will send Bill Nelson back to the Senate.
But this is the first ever statewide recount in Florida’s history. Which means we are going to need a massive effort to support our statewide outreach.
Right now, Republicans are accusing Democrats of trying to steal the election — simply because we want every legal vote counted. And Rick Scott is even suing to throw out votes!
But, this is not a banana republic or dictatorship. Politicians don’t get to throw out votes just because they think they’re losing. And if they try to — we stand up, we stand together, and we fight back.
