  • NEW: DSCC Invests $500,000 in Mississippi – Places Coordinated Ad Buy With District Attorney and Democratic Senate Candidate Scott Colom

Semafor: “Senate Democrats’ campaign arm is spending $500,000 with Mississippi Democratic Senate candidate Scott Colom in a coordinated ad buy”

With under one week to go until the midterms, coverage continues to highlight how Senate Democrats are on offense – competing deep in GOP territory on an expanded map that reaches all the way to Mississippi – as the DSCC places a $500,000 joint ad buy with District Attorney and Democratic Senate candidate Scott Colom.

The DSCC’s latest investment comes as Republicans continue their full-scale rescue mission to bail out out-of-touch GOP Senate candidate Cindy Hyde-Smith – who just days ago doubled down on her infamous claim that Mississippians have “so many proteins to choose from” – even as beef prices continue to skyrocket thanks to her toxic, price-spiking agenda and votes to rubber stamp the reckless tariffs.

Hyde-Smith has voted multiple times in favor of continuing the war in Iran, ripped health insurance away from 145,000 Mississippians, and spiked health care costs for 320,000 more.

Semafor: Senate Dems put $500,000 into Mississippi

    • Senate Democrats’ campaign arm is spending $500,000 with Mississippi Democratic Senate candidate Scott Colom in a coordinated ad buy, according to details first shared with Semafor.
    • The new ad from Colom and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee features Colom touting his record as a district attorney and says he’ll “take on anyone who stands in the way of what’s best for Mississippi.” He also criticizes incumbent Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith, R-Miss., as having “forgotten” the state in the spot. The ad will run statewide on TV and digital starting on Thursday.
    • “Senate Democrats have expanded the battleground deep into Republican territory and we are continuing to pursue every path possible to win a Senate majority,” said Tommy Garcia, a spokesperson for the DSCC.
    • Both major super PACS — the Democratic Senate Majority PAC, which is aligned with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, and Republican Senate Leadership Fund, which is aligned with Senate Majority Leader John Thune — are each spending seven figures in Mississippi, a sign of the red state Senate race heating up unexpectedly.
    • Schumer first floated the possibility of getting more involved in Mississippi in August, […] describing Hyde-Smith as vulnerable. Hyde-Smith blocked Colom’s appointment to a federal judgeship during Joe Biden’s presidency; Schumer told Semafor earlier this year that “the people of Mississippi remember that.”

When we say that Senate Democrats are counting on grassroots donors, we’re not kidding. In fact, 98% of donations to the DSCC during the 2024 election came from donors giving less than $200.

And every gift you give the DSCC is a gift that helps propel Democratic Senate candidates to victory.
