Congressman David Jolly had a lot to say about Donald Trump last week. Just days after Trump issued his dangerous call to ban Muslims from coming to the U.S., Jolly got attention for criticizing the frontrunner, but notably left the door open to supporting Trump should he secure the presidential nomination.
Then, Jolly declared “Donald Trump and I agree,” highlighting their similarities in a fundraising pitch:
Jolly’s campaign also recognizes the power of Trump.
“Donald Trump and I agree,” is the subject line on a Jolly fundraising email that went out this afternoon.
The money pitch begins: “Donald Trump and I agree. Trump and I each speak out honestly and with conviction, we don’t worry about the political consequence, and we call it like we see it.”
“Congressman Jolly said it himself: he agrees with Donald Trump,” said Lauren Passalacqua, DSCC National Press Secretary. “Facing down a crowded GOP primary, the Florida Senate candidate is too afraid to actually stand up to Trump and is eager to brag about their similarities, so we can only wonder what spin he’ll offer for the GOP frontrunner after tonight’s debate.”
