In the Senate, Sara will continue to build on her impressive record of fighting for Maine’s hardworking families by bringing down health care costs, tackling the opioid crisis, and boosting economic opportunity through tax relief, job training and education. Mainers will have a champion in Sara, and we look forward to continuing to support her campaign to victory.”
Senator Susan Collins is facing the most difficult re-election campaign of her political career, which is rated as a Toss-Up by every major nonpartisan elections analyst for the first time. Sara has consistently outraised Senator Collins for the last four quarters in a row with strong grassroots support, and she recently surpassed the vulnerable incumbent in cash-on-hand. Sara raised more than $9 million in the second quarter, and nearly 13,500 Mainers have donated to the campaign this cycle.
Key labor unions, environmental advocates, and pro-choice organizations that have supported Senator Collins in the past have now flipped to endorsing Sara this cycle, further eroding her bipartisan credibility. The Painters and Allied Trades International Union District Council 35, the Massachusetts and Northern New England Laborers, the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund, the Natural Resources Defense Council Action Fund, Planned Parenthood Action Fund, NARAL, and Everytown for Gun Safety have all backed Collins in the past but now support Sara’s campaign for Senate.
