DSCC, DCCC, DNC and Planned Parenthood Action Fund on the Stakes Of 2022: Reproductive Health Care Is On The Ballot

In response to the Supreme Court’s refusal to block Texas’ six-week abortion ban, today leaders of Planned Parenthood Action Fund, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and the Democratic National Committee released the following statements highlighting how reproductive health care is on the ballot in 2022:

Planned Parenthood Action Fund President Alexis McGill Johnson released the following statement:

“Right now, Texans are being forced to drive and fly hundreds and in some cases thousands of miles to access abortion — basic health care that is their right. When they go to the polls, they will remember who did this to them, who voted to deny them their constitutional rights. And this isn’t just a Texas issue: With the right to safe, legal abortion in grave danger across the country, there is no doubt that reproductive rights will be on the ballot in 2022. If one thing is clear — there is no state where banning abortion is popular. With our rights on the line and public opinion on our side, Planned Parenthood Action Fund will keep fighting in Texas and across the country.”

Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee Executive Director Christie Roberts released the following statement:

“Republicans’ all-out attack on reproductive health care is bringing this issue front and center in the 2022 midterm campaign — make no mistake: the right of women and families to make our own health care choices is firmly on the ballot. The Supreme Court letting this attack on abortion access stand has crystalized the stakes of this election: we must protect and expand Democrats’ Senate Majority with the power to confirm or reject Supreme Court Justices — and hold every GOP Senate candidate accountable for their attacks on women and families.”

DCCC Executive Director Tim Persico released the following statement:

“This is pretty simple for most Americans: women should be free to make their own choices about their bodies. But Republicans all over the country are ignoring that common sense belief with radical, dangerous laws like the Texas abortion ban which empowers vigilantes to effectively end access to safe, legal abortion. Again, this isn’t complicated, the extremist Republican agenda hurts women. House Democrats will not back down when it comes to protecting reproductive rights, and we’re committed to doing everything in our power to make sure Republicans lose their seats for this in 2022.”

DNC Chair Jaime Harrison released the following statement:

“For nearly five decades in the United States, access to safe, legal abortions has been upheld, as well as the privacy of a decision made between a person and their doctor. Now, due to extremist Republican lawmakers and conservative justices on the Supreme Court, people will have yet another barrier preventing them from accessing the health care they need and have every right to under our Constitution. Politics has no place in one of the most personal health care decisions a person can make, and every Republican lawmaker will have to answer for this unprecedented assault on the constitutional right to privacy.”
