DSCC FRIDAY TAKEAWAYS – GOP FRIGHT FEST – RECKLESS SENATE CANDIDATES VOTE TO DEFAULT – FLORIDA GOP CANDIDATES CALLED OUT FOR WEAK FUNDRAISING – JOE HECK AND SHARRON ANGLE SEPARATED AT BIRTH? – WILL PORTMAN END HIS DOUBLE STANDARD?

DSCC FEATURES “GOP FRIGHT FEST” TO HIGHLIGHT GOP CANDIDATES’ SCARIEST VOTES. Vulnerable Republican Senators and Senate candidates running the show in Washington are operating a frightening agenda, so this week the DSCC launched “GOP Fright Fest” to highlight their scariest votes and positions that would hurt middle class families. Some of these terrifying positions include repeatedly voting todefund Planned Parenthood and supporting the Ryan Budget, which would end Medicare as we know it and cut taxes for millionaires while risking raising them on the middle class. All of these positions are downright scary for women, seniors, and middle class families.

DON’T MISS: On Friday, the DSCC made Halloween weekend a little easier for GOP Senate candidates by helping them pick a costume to wear when they go out trick-or-treating for more special interest money. Click HERE to see what costumes we picked for each GOP Senate candidate.

GOP SENATE CANDIDATES RECKLESSLY VOTE TO ALLOW DEFAULT CRISIS. This week, numerous GOP Senate candidates cast reckless votes to allow a devastating default crisis that would damage the full faith and credit of the United States. In the Senate, Rob Portman, Pat Toomey, Ron Johnson, Roy Blunt, Richard Burr and Rand Paul voted in favor of more default and risk of shutdown gridlock. In the House, Joe Heck, Ron DeSantis, Marlin Stutzman and Todd Young also voted to let the government default. These candidates all chose to play reckless political games instead of supporting a bipartisan solution, and that’s something voters will remember in 2016.

FLORIDA GOP SENATE CANDIDATES: THE DOG ATE MY FUNDRAISING HAUL? After Patrick Murphy raised more than any other candidate in the Florida Senate race in Q3 and ended up with $3.5 million cash on hand (also more than any other candidate), Roll Calltook a closer look at the Republican candidates’ weak fundraising. The sideshow of GOP candidates there rolled out one excuse after another to defend their abysmal Q3 hauls. Also not impressed with the Republican candidates’ fundraising numbers – potential GOP candidate Bill McCollum. McCollum said in an article titled “Potential Candidate Bill McCollum Not Impressed By GOP Senate Fundraising”: “I don’t think anybody has an overwhelming amount of support demonstrated by those reports…” Looks like McCollum may be planning to make the already crowded, messy GOP primary a little messier.

TRY THE NRCC: Roll Call explains that “Both Lopez-Cantera and Jolly’s hauls would be strong for House candidates. But they are dangerously low numbers for an ultra-competitive statewide race…”

BIRDS OF A FEATHER – CONGRESSMAN JOE HECK AND SHARRON ANGLE FLOCK TOGETHER. As speculation about whether Sharron Angle will run for Senate continues to build in Nevada, the Nevada Democratic Party is highlighting their positions, and it turns out there’s not much daylight between Heck and Angle. Opposing Governor Sandoval’s bipartisan education plan, ending birthright citizenship, supporting discriminatory Voter ID bill, limiting the EPA’s ability to protect our air and water – Heck and Angle are ideological twins.

NEW HAMPSHIRE DEMS LAUNCH SITE TO HOLD AYOTTE ACCOUNTABLE AS SHE CONTINUES TO ATTEMPT TO REWRITE RECORD. Kelly Ayotte’s latest attempt to save her political career came on Mondayas she scrambled to rewrite her record on the environment. But, she’s leaving out some key facts, like howshe’s voted with the Koch Brothers 94% of the time on environmental issues. The facts about her record are Ayotte’s worst nightmare this election, and New Hampshire Democrats launchedAyotteFactCheck.com to ensure that Ayotte will be held accountable for her record of supporting special interests over hard-working New Hampshire families.

WILL PORTMAN GIVE BACK 23 PERCENT OF HIS PAYCHECK? Rob Portman knows that his dismal record on supporting women will be a major problem for him in 2016, so he’s in damage control mode launching a “Women for Portman” group this week. The truth is, Portman has repeatedly voted to restrict women’s access to healthcare by voting to defund Planned Parenthood and has voted against federal bills to ensure equal pay for women. The Ohio Women’s Caucus has levelled a challenge at Portman – since Ohio women earn just 77 cents on the dollar compared to men, and Portman opposes equal pay laws, he should return 23 percent of his paycheck.

IN THE STATES

FLORIDA – FIVE US SENATORS ENDORSE MURPHY. Democratic Senators Tim Kaine, Brian Schatz, Sheldon Whitehouse, Martin Heinrich and Chris Murphy endorsed Patrick Murphy on Thursday.

NORTH CAROLINA – NEW POLL SHOWS BURR’S APPROVALS UNDERWATER. A new poll this week showed Burr’s approval ratings are underwater, with only 29% of voters approving of his job performance and 39% disapproving.  Yikes.

PENNSYLVANIA – KOCH-BACKED GROUP SPENDING TO PROP UP TOOMEY. Pat Toomey is the latest Senator to benefit from shady Koch-backed outside spending. Special interests are pouring money into Pennsylvania in an effort to erase Toomey’s record of voting against Pennsylvania’s best interests as he grows increasingly more vulnerable.

NEVADA – CORTEZ MASTO HELPS VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE IN NORTHERN NEVADA. On Thursday, Catherine Cortez Masto was in Northern Nevada to attend an event to help victims of domestic violence. Cortez Masto has a strong record as Attorney General of protecting survivors of domestic abuse and working to get justice.

COLORADO – ANOTHER REPUBLICAN TAKES A PASS. In what is becoming practically a weekly feature, another Colorado Republican has taken a pass on the Senate race.

TWEET OF THE WEEK – This week’s tweet goes to Emily Cahn, who highlighted GOP Senate candidates fundraising problems in Florida:@CahnEmily: Lopez Cantera & Jolly’ fundraising was strong for a House candidate, but not an expensive statewide race #FLSENhttp://bit.ly/1MsGCqh
