DSCC FRIDAY TAKEAWAYS: POLL SHOWS VOTERS DISSAPROVE OF DANGEROUS IRAN LETTER – TOOMEY’S SHAMEFUL FUNDRAISING PLEA – KIRK STEPS IN IT, TAKE THREE – STRICKLAND SNAGS MAJOR ENDORSEMENT – PRIMARY TROUBLE BREWING FOR MCCAIN

POLL SHOWS VOTERS IN KEY SENATE STATES DISSAPROVE OF GOP IRAN LETTER. A new poll out from Quinnipiac this week showed voters in Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania overwhelmingly believe that the GOP’s reckless decision to sign on to a dangerous letter to Iran that interfered with sensitive negotiations was not appropriate.

Columbus Dispatch: Ohioans Deem GOP Senators’ Letter To Iran As Inappropriate, Poll Finds

“The letter Rob Portman and 46 other GOP senators sent to Iran in connection with ongoing nuclear weapon talks was inappropriate and more likely to hurt the peace process, Ohio voters say in a new poll.”

Toledo Blade: Ohio Voters Dislike Senators’ Letter To Iran

“Ohio voters didn’t approve of U.S. Sen. Rob Portman’s signing of a letter to Iranian mullahs, according to a poll released Wednesday by Quinnipiac University.”

TOOMEY’S SHAMEFUL FUNDRAISING PLEA. After the Qunnipiac poll showed that the majority of voters in his home state disapproved of his reckless decision, Pat Toomey decided to put his own reelection ahead of national security and shamefully raise money off the very negotiations that he willfully attempted to undermine by signing on to the reckless letter.

KIRK’S INFLAMMATORY RHETORIC HAT TRICK. After making remarks about laying coffins outside the doors of Democratic lawmakers’ offices, and comparing defending women’s health rights to defending slavery, Mark Kirk is once again engaging in over-the-top rhetoric and invoked Hitler when discussing the Iran deal yesterday. We can’t wait for what’s next.

IN THE STATES…

OHIO – TED STRICKLAND SNAGS MAJOR ENDORSEMENT. Former President Bill Clinton endorsed Ted Strickland for Senate in Ohio earlier this week saying “No one will care more, know more and work harder for better opportunities for every Ohioan than Ted. I’m proud to support him.”

NEW HAMPSHIRE – NEW POLL SHOWS AYOTTE VULNERABILITY. A new poll out this week shows just how vulnerable Kelly Ayotte is in New Hampshire. Ayotte took heat in New Hampshire for putting special interest donors ahead of New Hampshire consumers.

NORTH CAROLINA – BURR DOWN TO 30% APPROVALS. A new High Point University poll has Burr with just 30% of voters approving. Meanwhile, voters in North Carolina are putting pressure on Burr to end the obstructionism and confirm Loretta Lynch.

ARIZONA – MCCAIN FACES LIKELY PRIMARY CHALLENGE. The Arizona Republic reports that national tea party organizations are “stepping up their efforts to find a viable conservative opponent” to challenge McCain.

TWEET OF THE WEEK: This week’s tweet goes to the Washington Post’s Chris Cillizza who stated what our friends at the NRSC know all too well: “Tammy Duckworth set to announce for Senate Monday. Big get for Democrats in Illinois. http://ow.ly/KV7Yk
