Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee spokesman Stewart Boss issued the following statement on Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s announcement that he’s seeking re-election:
“After spending decades in Washington, Mitch McConnell has become its most self-serving creature. For more than 30 years, McConnell has gotten government health care – so it’s no surprise he doesn’t care about protecting coverage for pre-existing conditions. He’s gotten wealthier, too – so he doesn’t think twice about targeting programs like Medicare and Social Security that older Americans need. And he’s made friends with the big corporations and wealthy special interests that grease Washington – so he made sure they got a generous tax cut at the expense of the middle class. Mitch McConnell has lost touch with Kentucky, his record has made him one of the most unpopular senators in the country, and voters will hold him accountable in 2020.”
