DSCC Statement on GOP Presidential Debate

Sadie Weiner, DSCC Communications Director, released the following statement on tonight’s Republican presidential debate:

“It’s not a good night to be a Republican Senate candidate.  The debate stage was crowded with presidential hopefuls who will spotlight the reckless and dangerous positions that vulnerable Senators like Kelly Ayotte, Pat Toomey, Mark Kirk, Ron Johnson and Rob Portman are trying to cover up. As down ballot Republicans have to answer for an out-of-touch Presidential nominee, voters will see there isn’t much of a difference between them and the top of the ticket, including the readiness to support Donald Trump if he wins the nomination – and that’s a problem for the already endangered Republican Senate majority.”
