Today, DSCC spokesperson Helen Kalla released the following statement on Tommy Tuberville winning the run-off in the Republican primary for the Alabama Senate race.
“Unprepared and unproven, Tommy Tuberville would be nothing more than a lackey for his Washington party leaders in the Senate. His campaign strategy has been to dodge the press and avoid tough questions, but this much is clear: he’ll join his party in trying yet again to take away health care protections for the nearly 1 million Alabamians with a pre-existing condition, and can’t be counted on to fight for the needs of Alabama families, like better schools, improved infrastructure, and access to health care.
“Senator Doug Jones is an independent voice for the Yellowhammer State in the Senate and has delivered real results for hardworking Alabamians — not to mention has outraised his Republican opponents combined. The ugly and bitter drawn-out primary has shown how out of touch Tuberville is with Alabamians who are tired of divisive politics and eager for a leader who puts party aside to do what’s right. While Tuberville desperately tries to convince voters to look past his complete lack of experience and shady history, Senator Jones is focused on bringing people together around kitchen table issues that matter most to families from Huntsville to Mobile.”
