DSCC Statement On Democrats Lowering Utility Costs For American Families

In response to the distribution of additional state-by-state funding to help lower utility costs – made possible by Senate Democrats’ American Rescue Plan – Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee spokesperson Jazmin Vargas released the following statement:

“Senate Democrats are cutting the costs of utility bills this winter and keeping more money in the pockets of working families. Republicans unanimously opposed this effort to lower expenses because they’re focused on protecting big corporations that want to keep prices high, but Senate Democrats continue to deliver on Americans’ most pressing priorities.”

Senate Democrats’ American Rescue Plan:

• More than doubled LIHEAP funding to help lower the costs of utilities and home heating bills

• Provided additional resources for the Emergency Rental Assistance program to help families afford home energy expenses

Reminder: Every single Senate Republican voted against the American Rescue Plan that is lowering costs like home energy and health care, cut taxes for families, expanded vaccine distribution, and helped re-open restaurants and small businesses.
