DSCC Statement On GOP Lawsuit Attempting To Overturn ACA

In response to the Supreme Court’s ruling throwing out the most recent Republican lawsuit to overturn the Affordable Care Act, Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee spokesman David Bergstein released the following statement:  

“While this ruling is a victory for millions of Americans, it’s also a reminder that Republicans will utilize every tool they can to spike the cost of health care and prescription medicines, jeopardize coverage protections for individuals with pre-existing conditions and push the interests of big insurance and pharmaceutical corporations at the expense of hard working Americans. The coronavirus pandemic has only reinforced the importance of quality, affordable health care — and in 2022 voters will hold every Republican Senate candidate accountable for their toxic agenda that would spike costs and slashes coverage.” 

The Republican health care agenda means: 

• More than “21 million Americans could become uninsured,” increasing the uninsured rate by at least 65%;

• Americans with pre-existing conditions could face higher health care costs or be denied coverage altogether; 

• At least 12 million Americans could lose Medicaid coverage;

• Millions of seniors on Medicare could “face higher prescription drug costs.”
