In response to vulnerable incumbent Sens. Johnson and Rubio standing in the way of a bipartisan proposal to raise the debt ceiling and provide relief from Medicare cuts –– jeopardizing Social Security payments, Medicare, and millions of American jobs –– Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee spokesperson Jazmin Vargas issued the following statement:
“By standing in the way of a bipartisan solution to secure America’s full faith and credit, Rubio and Johnson are risking millions of jobs, jeopardizing Social Security and Medicare, and demonstrating once again why their self-serving politics should have no place in the Senate.”
Johnson and Rubio’s refusal to raise the debt ceiling could cost millions of jobs, cut Social Security, and “likely cause a domestic recession.”
