In response to Pennsylvania GOP Senate candidate Mehmet Oz calling conversations around women’s health care and reproductive rights “a rathole,” Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee spokesperson Jazmin Vargas issued the following statement:
“If Mehmet Oz thinks talking about women’s reproductive health care is a ‘rathole,’ he’s showing Pennsylvania voters why he has no place in the U.S. Senate. It’s the latest example of how GOP Senate candidates will stoop to the lowest levels as they work to overturn Roe v. Wade and strip away health care coverage from women and families – and Oz’s reprehensible statement reinforces that a woman’s right to make our own health care decisions is firmly on the ballot in 2022.”
