In response to Senate Republicans’ unanimous vote against raising the debt ceiling, Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee spokesperson Jazmin Vargas issued the following statement:
“Senate Republicans would rather risk millions of jobs, jeopardize Medicare and Social Security, and play politics with America’s full faith and credit than work with Democrats to protect America’s economy. Republicans’ unanimous opposition demonstrates once again why their self-serving politics should have no place in the Senate — and voters will hold them accountable in 2022.”
If Republicans had their way and failed to raise the debt ceiling, it would cost millions of jobs, cut Social Security, and “likely cause a domestic recession.”
