In response to new reporting from the Washington Post detailing how Senate Republicans “have started mobilizing around potential federal legislation to outlaw abortion after six weeks of pregnancy” and “will introduce the legislation in the Senate,” Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee spokesperson Nora Keefe issued the following statement:
“Senate Republicans’ plan to impose a nationwide abortion ban is the culmination of their decades-long effort to overturn Roe v. Wade and strip away critical health care coverage from women and families. The freedom for women to make our own health care decisions is firmly on the ballot in November – and our Democratic Senate Majority is one of our last lines of defense against the GOP’s full-fledged assault on reproductive freedom. For voters, the stakes of protecting and expanding our Democratic Senate Majority have never been higher.”
