As GOP Advances Toxic Health Care Bill, DSCC Launches 6-Second Non-Skippable Youtube Ads Highlighting How Plan Spikes Costs & Strips Coverage

As the Republican health care bill advances to the U.S. Senate, today the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee is launching six-second non-skippable Youtube bumper ads against Senators Heller (NV) and Flake (AZ) — highlighting how the GOP Plan will spike costs and strip coverage for Americans. New analyses shows the bill will protect just 5 percent of Americans with pre-existing conditions and also threatens “about half of the country” who receive employer provided coverage.

The DSCC is the first national campaign committee to utilize Youtube’s innovative bumper ad format during the 2018 campaign cycle. The six-second non-skippable ads are optimal for delivering critical messages while keeping viewer attention, especially across mobile platforms. Starting immediately the ads will reach targeted voters in Nevada and Arizona as part of an ongoing six figure digital buy.

“The Republican health care bill spikes cost and strips coverage for the middle class to give another handout to big insurance companies — it is a clear and telling demonstration of how the GOP is pushing the agenda of the rich and the powerful while working Americans are forced to pay a horrific price,” said Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee spokesman David Bergstein. “Every Republican candidate is running on a platform of making older Americans pay five times more for care, jeopardizing coverage for pre-existing conditions and slashing women’s health care services — a toxic combination that has united Americans of every political persuasion against it. To Senators Heller and Flake, and every other potential GOP Senate candidate, our message is simple: you own this plan and we will hold you accountable.”

“What Will The Republican Healthcare Plan Cost You?”

As Republicans revived their toxic healthcare plan, the DSCC also re-launched its 30 second healthcare spot, “The Price” through Google search and Facebook advertising in 12 key Senate battleground states. The DSCC first released the spot — described as “gut punch of an ad” by MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow — in March alongside a healthcare website and a memo detailing the campaign implications of the GOP’s proposal. During the recent congressional recess the DSCC also expanded its healthcare website and released targeted Google search advertisements highlighting potential Republican Senate candidate’s’ who have already voiced support for their party’s toxic healthcare Plan.
