GOP Infighting Escalating Across 2024 Senate Races

On the heels of previous reporting that Senate Republicans are “beginning to worry” that they’re “again facing the risk of problematic candidates” and looming “primary wars,” it’s clear that GOP primaries continue to get messier by the day. 

Here are highlights from across the map: 

• In Arizona, Mark Lamb made it clear that Kari Lake entering the race for Senate won’t stop him from joining the race himself.

• In Ohio, ahead of an anticipated campaign announcement, Bernie Moreno is “subtweeting” Frank LaRose, claiming “It’s time all Republicans coalesce around President Trump, especially those that just got elected to serve four years in office for a different and important position.”
  
  
• In Pennsylvania, Doug Mastriano criticized David McCormick, the NRSC’s preferred candidate, saying, “They can’t win the primary without us. The individual has money to throw around, it’s not going to be enough.” Mastriano also took a swipe at D.C. Republicans saying that if he enters the race, “[he’s] going to win the primary” and trying to stop him is “going to be a waste of their money.”
  
  
• In West Virginia, Club for Growth PAC endorsed Alex Mooney in an apparent “move to stop Jim Justice for Senate coronation.” The endorsement follows a promise from the group “to oppose Justice should he enter the Senate race.”
