More Than 38 Million Americans Have Filed For Unemployment, But McConnell, Senate Republicans Still See No “Urgency” To Act

DSCC spokesperson Helen Kalla issued the following statement:

“Another week has gone by that Mitch McConnell and Senate Republicans see no “urgency” to act as more than 38 million Americans are without a job, 27 million have likely lost their health coverage, and more than 93,000 people have died. Voters won’t forget that in the middle of a public health and economic crisis, Senate Republicans chose not to act.”

Senate Republicans admit they are working “hand in glove” with President Trump on his failed response to the pandemic and are making it harder for out-of-work Americans to get health care by refusing to demand the administration open a special enrollment period for health coverage. Meanwhile, Republicans continue moving forward with their lawsuit to tear down the entire health care law that provides protections for pre-existing conditions and expanded Medicaid. Not a single Republican senator has taken meaningful action to stop the GOP lawsuit.
