New DSCC Ad: Cruz’s Government Shutdown Would Threaten Social Security, Raise Costs

Ads will reach Texas voters looking for information about a government shutdown and its impacts on programs like Social Security

Today the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee is launching a digital advertising campaign highlighting that Senator Ted Cruz is “back[ing] House GOP efforts to shut down the government” and “oppose[s] even considering legislation to help avert an Oct. 1 shutdown.” The ads also detail how the shutdown would threaten Social Security and raise costs for working families.

The Google search advertisements will reach voters looking for information about Cruz and a government shutdown as part of a five figure buy. The ads direct individuals to learn more information about Cruz’s support for a shutdown and its impacts. The ads will reach voters in Austin near The Texas Tribune Festival (TribFest), where Cruz will be in attendance this weekend.

Example of the ad is below:

From DSCC spokesperson Amanda Sherman Baity: “Cruz’s government shutdown would be devastating: raising costs on hardworking families and small businesses while threatening vital programs like Social Security. Instead of doing his job and keeping America’s government open, Cruz has once again put his petty politics over the best interests of Texans –  and he’s given Texas voters another reason to fire him in 2024.”
