Failed Candidate Mike Gibbons Enters Race, Mandel Holding Fundraiser With Corrupt Donor, Moreno Takes Shots At Timken

The already “crowded and nasty” primary battle for the GOP nomination in Ohio just got a little more chaotic this week with failed candidate Mike Gibbons jumping into the fray. 

Gibbons immediately pledged his unwavering allegiance to Donald Trump in an attempt to occupy the already crowded Trump lane –– the latest example of how the former president is escalating the GOP’s internal battles and creating a “combative primary season” that is causing headaches for national Republicans.

And Gibbons’ announcement was just the tip of the iceberg for Republicans’ mess in Ohio: 

• Twice-failed candidate and corrupt politician Josh Mandel was called out for planning a fundraiser hosted by a corporate CEO “whose company faces a $63 million fine for allegedly defrauding a federal program that helps disadvantaged Americans.” 

• Corporate executive Bernie Moreno was accused of “cozying up to the former president and his supporters” out of political convenience. Moreno’s response? Implicate rival Jane Timken in the attacks and double down on his support for the former president, escalating the infighting in a primary that has been defined by candidates “trying to outdo each other over who is most loyal to Trump.”
