Just one week away from a government shutdown, Senator Toomey and his Republican colleagues once again shamefully voted to attack women’s health and put partisan politics ahead of responsible governing. This marks the second time this week that Republican Senators have voted to attack women’s health with a shutdown looming, despite the fact that they had no chance of succeeding and were doing nothing more than driving us closer to a shutdown.
“Senator Toomey and his fellow Republican Senate colleagues should be ashamed of themselves for once more casting partisan votes to attack women’s health, and driving the country even closer to a government shutdown,” said Sadie Weiner, DSCC National Press Secretary. “With a government shutdown looming, Republican Senators like Pat Toomey are digging their own electoral graves by launching partisan attacks against women’s healthcare instead of working with Democrats to keep the government open and Pennsylvania voters will remember their irresponsible brand of governance in 2016.”
