Instead of using the majority to strengthen the economy and focus on working families, Senator Rob Portman is once more wasting his time attacking women’s health. This effort is an unconstitutional bill that isn’t based on any sound science and erodes the ability of a woman to make her own healthcare decisions in conjunction with her doctor. Similar efforts to attack women’s health have been struck down across the country.
“Rob Portman has decided it wasn’t enough to sneak anti-women’s health language into the human trafficking bill earlier this year, and today he’s launched his latest effort to insert himself into a medical decision that should be made between a woman and her doctor,” said Sadie Weiner, DSCC National Press Secretary. ”In 2016, voters in Ohio – men and women alike – will remember that Rob Portman was more interested in playing politics with women’s health than in moving our country forward, strengthening our economy, and working to end the dysfunction in Washington.”
