Rubio and Johnson Vote Against Bipartisan Voting Rights Act

In response to the majority of Republican Senators’ –– including vulnerable incumbents Marco Rubio and Ron Johnson –– vote against the bipartisan John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act today, Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee spokesperson Jazmin Vargas released the following statement:

“This vote by Republicans like Marco Rubio and Ron Johnson is the latest demonstration that Republicans are more interested in their own self-serving political interests than protecting Americans’ fundamental right to vote and participate in our democracy. The stakes of the 2022 election are clear: in order to defend the sacred right to vote, we must protect and expand Democrats’ Senate majority.”

In response to the GOP’s unprecedented campaign to restrict voting rights, the DSCC has announced a $10 million voter protection campaign, Defend The Vote, the earliest commitment to a comprehensive voter protection program in the DSCC’s history.
