In response to Senate Republicans holding a fundraiser today in support of Jim Banks – chair of the Republican Study Committee when they released a formal budget that included “raising the eligibility ages” for Social Security and Medicare as well as additional cuts to these programs – Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee spokesperson Nora Keefe released the following statement:
“From Rick Scott to potential and announced Republican Senate candidates like Jim Banks, Senate Republicans have made no secret about their plans to put Social Security and Medicare on the chopping block. Senate Republicans’ agenda would raise the retirement age and rip away seniors’ hard earned benefits. In 2024 voters will hold every GOP Senate candidate accountable for their party’s agenda that attacks these vital programs.”
