WATCH – DSCC Chair Peters: “We Have Better Candidates. We Have Better Incumbents. It’s Clear.”

DSCC Chair Senator Gary Peters joined MSNBC host Ali Velshi last night to tout Senate Democrats’ strong incumbents and candidates, emphasizing that “there’s no question if you look at candidate quality between Democratic incumbents and our candidates in states versus the Republicans, there’s a clear contrast.”

• Herschel Walker is but one example of, I think I can make out, four or five or six Republican senatorial candidates across the country who say some wacky stuff. What’s going on?

DSCC Chair Sen. Gary Peters:

• Well, you’re right about that Ali. There’s no question if you look at candidate quality between Democratic incumbents and our candidates in states versus the Republicans, there’s a clear contrast. It is very clear.

• But we also knew that these are tough states. So we are competing in battleground states that we knew would tighten as the election got closer.

• That’s why it’s incumbent for us to make sure Democrats across the country understand what’s at stake in this election, understand what is happening in each of these states, and support our Democratic candidates.

• We have better candidates. We have better incumbents. It’s clear.
