WHAT THEY’RE SAYING: Walker’s “Texas Tax Break” Is “Latest In A Series Of Problems” & Creates “Growing Questions About His Residency”

*NEW* TODAY FROM CNN: “Georgia Senate candidate Herschel Walker described himself as living in Texas during 2022 campaign speech”

A wave of news coverage is highlighting Walker’s “Texas tax break” and how he lied about his Georgia residency – raising questions about whether he “violated the law” and adding to “the long list of eyebrow-raising reports he will likely need to explain.”

And today, new reporting revealed Walker also “described himself as living in Texas during [a] 2022 campaign speech,” adding to the “growing questions about his residency in the final week of the runoff campaign.”

See the coverage for yourself:

“Georgia Republican Senate candidate Herschel Walker, facing renewed and growing questions about his residency in the final week of the runoff campaign, described himself during a campaign speech in January as living in Texas and said he decided to run for Georgia’s Senate seat while at his Texas ‘home,’ according to a CNN KFile review of his campaign speeches.”

“Republican Herschel Walker is getting a tax break intended only for a primary residence this year on his home in the Dallas, Texas, area, despite running for Senate in Georgia.”

“Mr. Walker, Georgia’s Republican nominee for Senate, is benefiting from a homestead exemption meant for primary residents of Texas.”

“[Walker] is slated to get a tax break on his $3 million residence in a Dallas-Fort Worth suburb — potentially running afoul of Texas tax law… Walker’s Texas homestead exemption might also raise questions about his Senate run in Georgia.”

“Walker is getting a $1,500 tax exemption from his home in Texas, meant only for primary residents, while running for Senate in Georgia.”

“Public tax records revealed that Walker is set to get a homestead tax exemption in Texas this year, which will save him roughly $1,500 while also potentially infringing on tax rules in Texas as well as Georgia’s residency rules laid out for candidates seeking public office.”

“State investigators are being urged to probe whether Republican Senate hopeful Herschel Walker violated the law by receiving a tax break on his Texas home meant for primary residents of that state even as he runs for federal office in Georgia.”

“Taxing authorities in Texas plan to ask Walker about a tax break he’s getting on a multi-million dollar home.”

“An official in the Tarrant County tax assessor’s office told CNN Walker applied for the tax break in 2021 and 2022, even after launch[ing] his bid for Senate in the Peach State.”

“The accusations are just the latest in a long line of allegations that have dogged Walker’s campaign.”

“The tax exemption is meant for primary residents in Texas.”

“Walker has been accused of committing ‘election fraud’ following reports he received a primary residence tax exemption for his home in Dallas, Texas, whilst running for the Senate in Georgia.”

“The former NFL star has faced criticism for his residency before.”

“For Walker, this appears to create the latest in a series of problems.”

“Herschel Walker can add claiming a Texas primary residence tax benefit, while running for Senate in Georgia, to the long list of eyebrow-raising reports he will likely need to explain in the final weeks of his campaign.”

“Walker has not publicly commented on the tax issue.”
