What To Know About Mehmet Oz Ahead Of Tonight’s PA Senate Debate

As TV scam artist Mehmet Oz prepares to return to his natural habitat – a television studio – for tonight’s debate, voters are continuing to read and watch a wave of news coverage highlighting that he’s a fraud who will do, say, and sell anything to help himself – no matter who gets hurt.

Here is what you need to know about Oz ahead of the debate:

Oz is a fraud and a “scam artist” who will do, say and sell anything to help himself – no matter who gets hurt. He’s been called out as “a quack and a fake and a charlatan” whose bogus claims “endanger patients.” The Washington Post recently detailed how he “provided a platform for potentially dangerous products,” and the AP recently revealed he partnered with “multilevel marketing businesses whose practices have repeatedly drawn the attention of federal regulators.”

  • WHYY: ‘Very serious stakes’: Why Pa.’s doctors are rallying against Oz’s Senate bid. “Collectively known as the Real Doctors Against Oz, a growing number of physicians across Pennsylvania are speaking out against Oz’s political ambitions. Their reasoning is simple: Oz’s history as a television physician undermines the trust of their profession, subsequently threatening the health of their patients. They believe if Oz is elected, he would exploit his constituents just as he’s done to his viewers.”

Oz thinks politicians should be able to ban abortion even in cases of rape or incest and called abortion “murder” at any stage of pregnancy.

Oz is an out of state millionaire with no real connection to Pennsylvania. His ties to New Jersey have been well documented, and the Miami Herald revealed a series of scandals about his home in Palm Beach, Florida. Most recently, ABC uncovered an “unheard of” clause in Oz’s deed for his Pennsylvania mansion, which one expert said “suggests to me that he’s only here for a temporary period of time.”

  • Miami Herald: Dr. Oz spent years, millions improving Palm Beach mansion. Now he’ll get a tax break. “as Oz fends off attacks that he is an interloper and ongoing criticism that he owns 10 homes, the tax exemption — and the time and money invested in Palm Beach to receive it — are reminders of Oz’s deep and varied ties to Florida, connections that include stakes in local businesses, ownership of at least two properties in the state, and a leadership position in an area civic association.”
